Daily Moon Dispatch – 27 August 2026
Tonight Earth sees a deep partial lunar eclipse — an almost-blood Moon, with about 96 percent of the disk in shadow.
From Conrad Station the same alignment looks different.
The station sits on the near side, in the long lunar day. When Earth slides between Sun and Moon, the Sun does not set. It is occulted. Earth hangs high and nearly covers the solar disk, leaving only a thin sliver of hard light and a copper-red ring of atmosphere. At the height of the eclipse, that ring remains. The usual glare drains out of the regolith. A dim reddish glow takes its place — the same filtered sunlight that turns the Moon copper from Earth now paints the habitats, the crawler tracks, and the gray dust in a low, unnatural dusk. Windows pick up the color. The station does not go dark. It goes red for a while. Then the sliver widens, the hard gold returns, and the long day continues as if nothing had happened.
The lag has not changed. Neither has the work.

This remains hard science fiction lunar frontier country: the same alignment that turns the Moon red from Earth turns the Sun into a ring from Conrad Station — and washes the surface in that same copper light.

Stories
The stories of Torn MacAlester are science fiction, where the science is well-grounded. I intentionally made any deviations for speculative purposes. To maintain maximum realism, I restrict the scope of these deviations.
Articles
I write articles of science fact and science fiction. The articles here span the knowledge of modern science and the speculations of fiction. I try to caveat everything that is an assumption. You will find articles about spaceflight, the possibilities of alien contact, and descriptions of technology used in my stories.
